St. Nicolas Eve

Nicolas is wrapping the presents and getting his horse, Amerigo, ready to give the good presents. His horse is white, snow-white, and loves eating carrots, they both form a very good team, especially in the snow. Nicolas keeps on tripping over roof tiles and Amerigo seems to have a 6th sense for feeling if Nicolas is going to fall over. Nicolas was a very lively man, he loves giving presents to everyone in his town. He gave fish, he gave bread, in every case, Nicolas made a lot of people happy. Every 5th of December, he goes outside, takes a deep breath and jumps on this horse. He has a sack, full of presents that will make his town happy.

Nicolas' town is a very poor town, he and the mayor were literally the only rich men of the whole town. They always had an argue to argue about and most of these argues were about Nicolas. So you see, the mayor hated people giving things for free, and Nicolas gives a lot for free. Sometimes Nicolas gets thrown into jail for giving to the poor. Nicolas always gets upset about this fact. He just likes making his fellow town citizens happy, and he wants to keep on giving things away, without getting into jail. So, he thought up a great solution, he bought some wool, some cotton and some linen cloth. He was about to make a disguise, so that nobody in town or in the universe will ever recognise "the-guy-that-gives-a-lot-at-night". It worked. He was able to give away thousands of presents each day and saved hundreds of people's lives.

The word about a person giving away lots of presents has spread around crazy fast. Soon, everyone in the continent knew about this story, and they all hoped for a present the next day. This made Nicolas quite worry about his giving business he made up, he couldn't give away millions of gold coins to all those people every day, he would become poor as well. So, one morning later, he decided to spread out a story that the person who gave a lot of presents decided to only give at the 5th of December. Everyone soon heard about this sad news and for some of them, it was too hard to believe.

Today, Nicolas has arrived at his first house and was just about to give away his first present, the story of Nicolas has slowly faded into a myth, a fable but his tale will be told for generations to come...
